Special one-off performance - 2019 Queenscliffe Literary Festival

  • Queenscliff Town Hall 50 Learmonth Street Queenscliff, VIC, 3225 Australia (map)

By special arrangement with the fabulous Queenscliffe Literary Festival, we’re delighted to present this one-off performance of Hell Ship, just a mile or so across the water from where the drama unfolded in 1852. Hell Ship is the true story of the emigrant vessel, Ticoncderoga and her tragic voyage to Australia at the height of the Gold Rush. Though a large and beautiful ship, typhus devastated her nearly 800 mainly Scots passengers both on the voyage and in quarantine at Point Nepean, making it the biggest story of its day, but now all but forgotten. The hero of the saga was the young ship’s surgeon, James Veitch, the great great grandfather of writer and presenter Michael Veitch.

As if you ever needed an excuse to come to beautiful Queenscliff, here’s another. A great way to kick off election night, with plenty of time left to watch the count!
